Welcome to the South! After growing up in a New York suburb and going to school in Chicago, I suddenly found myself plopped in the middle of Virginia.
A ‘Yankee’ trying to fit in south of the Mason-Dixon line, I quickly discovered a few things- the use of the word ‘y’all’ is not nearly as widespread as I would have expected; they REALLY love Robert E. Lee here in Richmond; and the breadth of culture, history, backgrounds and arts is quite impressive.
I came to Virginia to pursue a career in journalism- I started with a year in Winchester, and have been in Richmond for the last three.
I currently anchor the CBS 6 news at 5 and 5:30…and report for all of our shows.
Given a long history of public humiliation and speaking faux pas, I figured why not cash in and try it out on television!
In all seriousness, I picked a field where I thought I could use self-expression and writing to connect with people. My experiences, to date, have surpassed my expectations- I’ve reported on political firestorms, near-death fire escapes, colossal bankruptcies and sordid strip clubs.
And, I’ve seen what it’s like to live in a city that has no clue how to handle a little bit of snow.
I’m a family-oriented person, with a sister attending grad school in North Carolina and a network of family and friends back up North. I’ve made great friends here in Richmond, who I know I’ll keep close for the rest of my life…but I’m looking to return to Chicago one day.
I appreciate the opportunity to take part in an event that will benefit such a worthy cause, thanks for having me!

What is the best prank you’ve pulled on someone or was pulled on you?_____My life is one long, unending prank. I’m convinced that someone cut a hole in the back of my pants, and that’s why I walked around a fatality scene for about three hours with the seat of my pants ripped and my rear just blowing in the wind.
When I was in high school, some older guys once drove up to an outdoor keg party and pretended to be the police- which in turn caused me to flee the scene, lead an expedition of about 10 guys around the back woods of a well-to-do community, and ultimately fall into a big puddle of quicksand. I can’t make these things up.

What is your idea of a perfect date?__I don’t like the notion of a ‘perfect date’ – it implies that something has been preconceived, and doesn’t evolve organically. Share a new experience with someone else…that’s it!
